Door County

Our Mission

Cycling Without Age is a non-profit social enterprise started in 2012 by Ole Kassow in Copenhagen, Denmark. As an affiliate chapter of CWA, Cycling Without Age Door County seeks to improve the lives of older adults and differently abled individuals in our community by providing safe and slow trishaw rides throughout our beautiful state parks and less traveled roads.

Our Volunteers

The backbone of this program is our network of trained volunteer pilots. At present, more than 35,000 trained pilots around the world ensure that older adults and those with varying abilities get out on the trishaws to enjoy the fresh air and community around them. Volunteer pilots reunite and connect people of all ages and abilities and are an example of what is possible when positive energy and generosity are combined.

Our Inspiration

Can a trishaw ride help make the world a better place? Of course it can by promoting good health and well-being, a sense of connection, and the ability to get out and enjoy the community through sustainable travel. Cycling Without Age Door County provides opportunities for individuals to remain an active part of society and the local community, experience the beauty of Door County, enjoy nature close up from the trishaw, and tell stories in the place where they have lived their lives.

About Our Chapter

Our purpose is to improve the lives of older adults and differently abled people by providing safe slow trishaw rides. These experiences create opportunities for our passengers and pilots to build intergenerational relationships, enjoy the natural beauty of Door County, and remain an active part of the local community.

Becoming an affiliate chapter of Cycling Without Age and bringing this program to Door County has been very gratifying work. Being able to provide trishaw rides along the beautiful roads of Peninsula State Park, through Peterson Park at the YMCA, along the waterfront of Sturgeon Bay, and down our county’s less traveled roads has allowed us to serve a variety of agencies throughout Door County. We know that we are actively contributing to this community and making a genuine difference in people’s lives.

“Cycling Without Age is a movement – literally – that’s creating a sense of freedom, joy and happiness in an awesome meeting of generations.”

— Ole Kassow, CWA Founder
