Cycling Without Age Oak Park IL

The Right to Wind in Your Hair

Don’t we all deserve the right to get outside and have the wind in our hair, with the freedom that cycling provides, no matter our age or ability?

Cycling Without Age Oak Park IL is excited to offer this opportunity.

Our trishaw is a three-wheeled bicycle with motor-assist designed to carry one or two passengers in front.  It is pedaled like a bicycle by a “pilot” sitting behind and slightly above the passengers. Our nonprofit mission is to provide rides for seniors and persons with disabilities.

Trishaw rides are conducted on side streets, parks, or other low-traffic routes. Rides are intentionally slow and gentle, encouraging conversation or just quiet contemplation.

In Oak Park and River Forest, we tour the nearby Frank Lloyd Wright neighborhood, parks and/or the Cook County Forest Preserve. The rides can be as short as 15 minutes, or as long as 45 minutes. Friends and family may ride along on their own bicycles.

Rides are generally held on weekends from May through October.  All rides are free of charge, but pre-registration and signed consent are required.

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL

Cycling Without Age Oak Park IL is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

We count on the generosity of individuals, foundations, and businesses to support this endeavor.  Our fundraising campaign goal is to cover the cost of the recently purchased trishaw, as well as the liability and equipment insurance to cover the organization and participants. Our goal is to raise $9,700 — $7,700 for the trishaw, supplies and insurance (already expended), and $2,000 to cover annual expenses. Ongoing expenses are minimal because we are 100% volunteer-run.

Thank you for supporting our fun, community-building rides!
